First Time Speaking on A Panel

A couple weeks back, I was privileged to be a speaker at Wordfest 2019 with a ton of other excellent writers. And not just as a guest, but as an actual speaker – it was truly unbelievable. In one day, I was a guest on two panels:

“Demystifying the Writing Process”

“What I Wish I’d Known”

The first one, Demystifying, was all about the writing process. Not only was able to give advice to writers of various levels, I was also able to learn a lot from those on the panel. I’ll admit, during this one, I was a little nervous. I did more listening than I did actual speaker, but when I spoke, I did so with all the gusto of a Greek God.

Before speaking, I tried to plan my words and example carefully – I didn’t want to to say something that would make me look stupid in front of all my writing peers. I don’t think I did – but I suppose you would have to ask other panelist for their opinion.

The second one, which deal with hindsight, I did a lot better. I was more relaxed and on point, and being so, talked a lot more. I managed to impress a few people, who later approached me for booking speaking events at their schools, etc. It was pretty cool.

Right now, I’m waiting to see if I get to be one of the honored speakers at the Dallas Writers Conference in June. I applied for a few topics and have been waiting forever it seems a response. I’m either in or out (Pray for me).

Once I know, I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, I am not confirmed for the Frisco Book Fest on May 11th at the Frisco Public Library, from 1 to 5pm. I’m not sure who else will be there, but I know its a bunch of local illustrators and authors. I’m super excited – I think I’m one of the only few there that does horror and black humor works. I’m planning to use a black table cloth at my table a show off my horror Pop’s and toys to make me stand out more. So if you are in the area, please come by, purchase a book, and get a picture with this sexy beast!!!

Or not.

I do apologize for the lateness in posts recently – work has been super busy. But I’m going to try and get back on schedule for it moving forward.

I’m planning to talk about writer’s block, giving presentations and talks as a writer, and how to sell drugs in gender neutral bathrooms for fun and profit. In the meantime, stay sexy San Diego.
